The number of internet users has grown continuously and in the last couple of years the internet expansion has been extremely fast. In 2000 there were 360,985,490 internet users, while in 2009 the number of users reached over 1,733,994,000.
Because of the internet, now is easier than ever to buy and sell animals, insects and plants. Everyone who has internet access can find online auction sites and chat rooms that sell various species of animals, including endangered ones.
